Marco Top Of The Class at New ?17m Birmingham School

Contractors working on a new £17million school development in Birmingham have specified Marco’s uPVC trunking throughout.

Starbank Primary School in Birmingham had been identified as an ideal candidate to become an all-through school, meeting local demand for places. The school development included the construction of a new two and three storey building on an existing site as accommodation for the additional pupils. Contractor Thomas Vale Construction managed the works with electrical contractors J Tomlinson responsible for the installation programme.

Marco’s Elite 3 uPVC trunking was chosen by the contractor to house the electrical installation.

Dean Hopkinson, Area Sales Manager at Marco Cable Management said: “Education is a strong sector for Marco products, both in terms of new build and refurbishment projects. Our Elite 3 has become almost synonymous with education schemes and the many attributes of Elite sit perfectly within this type of environment.”

J Tomlinson added: “The mechanical and electrical challenge was to produce a cost effective, low maintenance solution that would both reduce running costs and also require less maintenance. The new building, which is expected to achieve an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating of B, will be light and colourful, providing a warm, welcoming and much-needed learning environment for the local community.”
