Marco’s steel wire cable tray has been specified throughout a sprawling distribution centre in Wilmslow for internet giant, Amazon. 

Set on the new Airport City site, construction work at the 260,000 sq ft warehouse is now complete, however, Amazon has already applied to extend the floor space with two internal mezzanine levels, taking it to 654,000 sq ft. This is in addition to a 42,840 sq ft office and a 120,000 sq ft car park. 

Contractor, C&S Electrical opted for Marco’s steel wire cable tray to support their new electrical installation fitted across the vast warehouse space. 

Kate Knox, Key Account Manager at Marco commented: “Amazon is a fantastic brand to be associated with. This is a huge deal for the North West of England that will not only create a huge number of jobs but will consolidate the firm’s base in the region. 

“We’ve supplied a large quantity of our tray to the contractors here who have given fantastic feedback in terms of both the quality of the product and the wider customer service experience from Marco.” 

This new centre marks Amazon’s first fulfilment centre in the North West, creating 1,000 new jobs in Manchester over the next three years. The move is part of Amazon’s plan to expand across the UK this year, creating 2,500 permanent jobs.
