Powder Coated Steel Wire Cable Tray

Contractors at the £40million ‘Islands’ programme at Chester Zoo have utilised Marco’s powder-coated steel wire cable tray throughout.

Considered one of the biggest developments in the history of UK zoos, the new attraction will see visitors set-off on their very own expedition through detailed recreations of habitats in Panay, Papua, Bali, Sumatra, Sumba and Sulawesi. Linked by a series of bridges and including a journey on water aboard the Lazy River Boat Trip.

Marco's steel wire cable tray has been used to house the development’s complex electrical infrastructure, specified in a powder-coated finish (in a RAL colour specially requested to match the existing steelwork) to protect the product from the outdoor elements.

Kate Knox, Key Account Manager at Marco Cable Management said; “This is a really special project that will undoubtedly offer an amazing experience. We supply our cable containment solutions to Crown House at a diverse range of projects throughout the UK, however, this is probably the most unique.

She added: “Having recently visited the site, it’s great to see our product in situ and to recognise the part that we have played in creating this amazing facility which is now fully open and ready to be enjoyed by the general public.”

The Islands adventure will transport the public to far-flung islands in South East Asia and will home a number of animals classed as critically endangered in the wild including Sumatran tigers, Sumatran orangutans and Visayan warty pigs.

The £40m scheme will bring conservation to life in what is one of the most ambitious zoo developments ever in Europe.
